The Saké Story

Armed with his trusty, handcrafted Takeda blade and a passion for pushing the envelope, Chef Scott Ames has been busy cooking up his vision for Saké - an elevated Asian fusion restaurant in Barbados. Founder of the island-based Bento Box chain, Scott’s no stranger to the simple yet intricately refined art that is Japanese-style cuisine and tradition.

The Saké Dream

As a dedicated caterer & diehard foodie, the British-born chef is finally living out what’s been a long-held desire of his along Barbados’ buzzing South coast. Saké’s devotion to artisanry and authenticity is tangible at every level - with its thoughtfully curated menu featuring signature handmade noodles, home-sourced ingredients as well as in-house ageing & smoking processes. To experience Saké is to immerse yourself in Scott’s own intention and energy, an extension of his fervor for crafting restaurant experiences that leave all five of your senses intoxicated.

His hope for the future of Saké?

That his fire for creating highly memorable experiences, through carefully crafted gourmet cuisine & cocktails set amidst an unforgettable ambience, leaves you feeling just as inspired as he did to bring it all to life in the first place.

Meet Bobbie

Co-Founder and Partner of Sake

Bobbie Freeman, Co-Founder and Partner of Sake, has always dreamed of opening a hotspot restaurant since moving to Barbados in 2015. With over 25 years of experience in the hairdressing industry, including training in Mayfair, London, Bobbie recognized that combining exceptional customer service from her background with a culinary venture would create a unique experience.

After partnering with chef Scott Ames, who shared the same vision, Sake was born. In 2015, Bobbie co-founded The Bright Water Kids Foundation with Paddle Barbados, teaching life-saving ocean skills to children, including those with disabilities. Unfortunately, the program ended due to the pandemic and lack of donations. Bobbie is committed to using Sake's success to support the foundation, with plans to make it the primary beneficiary once the restaurant becomes profitable. Her passion is to build a business that can fund a meaningful cause.
